My Aunt Angeline
Monday, October 29th, 2007I was in Bangkok for 5 days to visit my Aunt Angeline as well as to get to know my Cousins of whom I hardly knew. It was a memorable trip indeed. I never realized until the trip that I had missed my Aunt so much.
She used to visit us every year until 10 years ago. When she turned 80. Sometimes she traveled by Air, sometimes by train. Each time she visited, she would bring 1 luggage full of goodies for us kids. She knew how to satisfy our stomachs. She was a good cook too. Once a year, she would singlehandedly whip up the grandest feast of the year for all of us to enjoy.
My Aunt has a heart of gold. Strict she was but none of us really minded that. I believe there is a part of Aunt Angeline within me. I cannot exactly say what is it but she did influence me somehow to be what I am today. The values that i hold, part of it has been influenced by her.
This trip that i had was indeed a fruitful one. I stayed in her house for 5 days. Her memories are failing but she is still the warm hearted Aunt Angeline that I once knew. Every evening, my cousins would come over to join us for dinner. We would talk and share about our experiences. The moments spent together with my cousins and Aunt Angeline are indeed priceless to me and i am looking forward to another visit to my family in Bangkok again……I am actually proud of my family…proud to be the daughter of Peter Vaz…proud to be Edward Vaz’s granddaughter…proud to be Capt Peter Vaz’s great-granddaughter..
